Aaron Lee Kreie passed away at his home on Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2026. He was born in Dodge City, Kansas to Estel Leroy Kreie and Lavona Jane McCabe Kreie. He lived for a short time in Oklahoma City before he and his mother moved to Shawnee when Aaron was in the 2nd grade. He has been a Shawnee boy ever since. He got his first job at Safeway on Broadway Ave, when he was 16 yrs old. His neighbor Mr. Banks gave him his first necktie and taught him how to tie it, then said, “Now go make something of yourself.” He worked at Safeway until a motorcycle accident put him out of the retail environment for a while. While he was off with his injuries, Safeway changed to Homeland. He came back to work and met the love of his life Edith Gibson. They were married for 35 ½ years. From their union came a beautiful, red-haired, blue-eyed, daughter, Racheal Kreie. Aaron continued to work for Homeland until he was asked by a former fellow employee, to come work for Firelake Discount Grocery. When Firelake built the express store in Tecumseh, Aaron was asked to run the produce department there. He was still working there at his passing, only running two more departments on top of produce. He focused on efficiency. One of his favorite phrases was, “Work smarter, not harder”. He was never afraid to share his opinion on anything or call you an idiot if you weren’t doing something the way he thought was most efficient. But Aaron had a way about him that people liked him anyway. If he liked you, he liked you. Even if he had to straighten you out every now and then. He loved stories and a good joke. He was a comedian and an entertainer. Not professional of course, but he always kept me and his friends laughing. He was a hobbyist. This loved started as a child when his mother would bring him home model cars to put together. He loved fishing and making fishing lures, building and restoring slot cars, (that is electric toy cars), golfing, hunting, and playing a good friendly game of poker or darts with the boys. He was very mechanical and loved the old hot rods. He worked on a few in our yard, much to my dismay. He had slowed down a lot in the last few years because he just didn’t feel up to doing a lot. He was getting tired and in a lot of pain. But the strong and faithful man he was, he dragged himself to work every day anyway. He was definitely a man’s man. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Edith Kreie and his daughter Racheal Kreie and brother Mark Sinclair (Renee); Mother-in-love Betty Gibson; brothers-in-love, Craig Gibson (Felton), Clay Gibson, Destrey Gibson, and Hoyt Gibson (Laura). And many friends. Some long-time friends I would like to mention are Jim True, Mike Stever, Roger and Deidra Loveland, Jeff Fry, Casey Perryman, and Harry Underwood who was like a father to him before Harry passed. A Memorial Visitation Service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK, 74801, US. The service is scheduled for February 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
