Anna M. Miller

Anna Mae (Bowen) (Leveridge) Miller was born September the 12th, 1928 at home in a log cabin in Jacktown, Oklahoma to Jessie and Fannie Mae (Wood) Bowen. She was the third child born out of 11. She was a mentor and second mother to her younger siblings. She grew up in and around Meeker area and graduated from the White Rock School in 1947. She was an extremely talented athlete, playing guard for her high school basketball team and pitching for the softball team. Ann was also gifted with a beautiful alto voice and sang for a number of years in church, as well as for funeral services. She was married to the late Walton “Bud” Leveridge in 1948. They were married for 22 years. They had two daughters, Beverly Ann (Leveridge) (Kinnett) Collins, and Peggy Sue (Leveridge) Holder. She was married to Cecil Carl Miller on September 9th, 1977. They enjoyed 34 wonderful years together. The things she loved most in life were her family and her friends. She was a very accomplished woman. In the 1960’s she began working at the Meeker Grade School cooking for the children and staff. She later moved on to do accounting at Bob Townsend Ford in Meeker. After getting a job at Tinker Air Force Base in the administrative office she continued to work there for roughly 12 years. She retired from Tinker in the early 1970’s to become an apartment manager for numerous complexes around the Shawnee and OKC Metro areas. In addition to a versatile working life, she was an active participant in many recreational activities such as: coin collecting, antiquing, gardening, camping, and playing games with and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna was an avid traveler. In addition to visiting much of the United States she also accumulated many stamps and pages in her passport full of all the countries she traveled to. She made numerous trips to Scotland, the Netherlands, and England to visit her family living overseas. She also journeyed to South Africa, France, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Canada, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Wales. Whenever she went on one of her many trips, be it overseas or just up the mountain to Colorado, she would always return full of stories and experiences to share with any and all. he enjoyed the beauty of the earth, doing good deeds for others, traveling, and visiting with her much beloved family and friends. She passed from this world on December the 25th, 2011 in Oklahoma City at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Gladys (Bowen) Leveridge and husband R.G. Leveridge, Rosemary (Bowen) Boatner, Ethel (Bowen) Pinkston, and two brothers, Clyde Bowen and James (Shorty) Bowne and her cherished nephew Michael Ferguson and precious niece Michele Woody. She is survived by her husband Carl Miller of the home. Two daughters and son-in-laws: Curt and Beverly Collins of Shawnee, OK; Danny and Peggy Holder of Lafayette, LA, and step-son Danny and Val Miller of Grove, OK. Four sisters and three brother-in-laws: Helen and Layton Pinkston of Shawnee, OK; Kathryn and Ray Gomez of Blanchard, OK; Carol and Jerry Woody of Meeker, OK; Sue Bowen of Shawnee, OK. One brother, Larry Bowen of Shawnee, OK. Two sister-in-laws, Nell Bowen of Harrah, OK , and Lola and husband Marshall Yoakum of Shawnee, OK; Geary and wife Aloyshia Kinnett of Atlanta, GA; Brad and wife Christy Kinnett of Bethel, OK; Jessica and husband Derick Carpenter of Bethel, OK; and Zachary Holder of Norman, OK. Twelve great- grandchildren: Andrew, Lauren, Emily, Joshua, and Jacob Yoakum; Cole, Carson, and Jackson Kinnett; Shianna, Autumn, and Heather Kinnett; and Gracie Bella Carpenter. Five step-grandchildren: Danny Jr. and wife Maria Miller; Kevin and wife Mandy Miller; and Jonathan Miller all of Grove, OK; and Kim Collins of Napa Valley, CA and Lori Collins of Tulsa, OK. Two step-great-grandchildren: Jayce Miller and Jasper Miller. As well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousin, in-laws, out-laws, loved ones and friends. We will miss her special spirit, as well as the laughter and joy that she brought all of us. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. We will love you from here to the moon and back; our Mother, Grandmother, Mimi, and guiding light in our lives.
