
Betty J. Newton, 80, of Kokomo, entered the gates of heaven at 10:40 PM, Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Reflections at Wellington. She was born July 19, 1934, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Woodrow and Opal (McDonald) Mincey. On September 1, 1951 she married Louis John “Scotty” Newton, and he preceded her in death April 22, 2002. Betty joyfully and faithfully served the Lord with her husband who was a minister in Oklahoma and Texas. They were both deeply involved in all areas of the church throughout their entire life.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Helton, Kokomo; daughter, Cathy Newton, Oklahoma City, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Trish (Brassfield) Newton, Eufaula, OK; son, Daniel Newton, Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren: David and Karrie (Lenhart) Helton; Chris and Kelly (Goldy) Helton; Madison, Caleb, Allie, and Saydee Newton; Jordan, Camryn, and DC Newton; and Ashley Newton; 12 great grandchildren: Bryndon and Jane, Brooklyn, Sequoia, Daniel, Emma, Claire, Aiden, Sophie, Xavier, Zion, Kingston, and Princeton Newton; sister, Becky and Joe Roberts, Florida; sister, Ruth Mincey, Texas; and a brother, Mike Mincey, Florida.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, her husband Scotty, and a son-in-law Darle “Fred” Helton.
She will be buried next to her husband in Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, OK. No funeral service is planned. The family will hold a graveside service in Oklahoma. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Reflections at Wellington for the caring and compassionate care she was given in the last 2 years of her life.
