Bobby Ray Simmons, age 90, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bobby’s life was defined by quiet strength, deep commitment, and a heart that found joy in the simple, meaningful things. Bobby was born on October 13, 1935, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, to Lee Bob Simmons and Alice Simmons. He graduated from Elmore City High School in 1954, beginning a life marked by service, hard work, and devotion to family. In March of 1955, Bobby entered the United States Air Force, completing basic training at Lackland AFB. He served honorably for four years and was released from active duty on March 23, 1959. During his military career, he served at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, as well as Dyess Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base. After his active-duty service, Bobby continued his dedication to his country as a federal civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked faithfully for 33 years. On November 17, 1961, Bobby married the love of his life, Phyllis Williams. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and shared values. In 1967, they moved their family to Bethel, Oklahoma, where Bobby farmed and ranched, raising cattle and attending auctions, and cared deeply for the land he worked. He took pride in making things look right—whether it was the pasture, the livestock, or the home he loved so dearly. Bobby had a deep appreciation for bluegrass and old country music, but his greatest joy was always his family. He cherished time spent at home, following his grandchildren through their sports and activities, working with livestock, attending cattle sales and auctions, and simply being present for the people he loved. He was a proud member of the American Angus Association and the North American Limousin Foundation. Those who knew Bobby describe him as a very sweet man—one who laughed often and loved deeply. His kindness, steady presence, and gentle humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Simmons; his daughter, Sheila Atwood and husband Jeff of Porum, Oklahoma; his son, Scott Simmons and wife Debbie of Shawnee, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Jessica Clemons and Clint Simmons; and his great-grandchildren, Bexley Clemons and Case Clemons.
