

Cedric Rosser McDonald, 89, of Shawnee, Ok, passed away on March 3rd 2026 at Shawnee Colonial Estates in Shawnee, OK from complications due to Multiple Myeloma cancer. Rosser, as he was known to all, was born on November 5, 1936 to Chester and Nellyne McDonald and raised in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1954. While attending Oklahoma Baptist University in 1954-1955, Rosser was smitten by Glenda Lou Lane of Seminole and they married on August 2nd, 1956. Rosser wanted to work in radio and television and soon after their marriage he was a disc jockey at a radio station in Cushing. From there, he moved to Konawa and his first job in television as a news and weather anchor at channel 10 in Ada. In 1963, Rosser moved to Tulsa and worked as a news reporter at channel 2, KVOO. In 1968, Rosser uprooted his family again to move to Richardson, TX where he worked as a news reporter, anchorman, and morning show host at channel 8, WFAA. In 1973, he made the move to Fort Worth, TX where he worked for the Radio and Television Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention as a writer, producer, and director of numerous Christian television shows until his retirement in 2002, putting his years of experience in journalism to work for the Gospel of Jesus Christ -which was his passion. After his retirement, Rosser continued to serve the LORD in numerous medical mission trips to Texas/Mexico border towns and authored the book “Real Prison Real Freedom”. Additionally, Rosser served as a deacon in multiple churches. Rosser received 8 Telly Awards and was nominated for two Emmy Awards during his time at the RTVC. Rosser returned home to Shawnee to live with family at the family farm in 2022.
Rosser was preceded in death by his beloved Glenda (January 3rd, 2020) and his grandson, Bronson Addison (July 19, 2025), and is survived by his children Ronda Lynn Cooper (husband Kent), Rhoda Lane Addison (husband Jimmy), Curtis Rosser McDonald (wife Candi), and Renda Lou Welch (husband Christopher), seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren who called him Pawpaw. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on March 7th, 2026, at Temple Baptist Church, Shawnee, OK with a graveside service immediately afterward at Fairview Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 6th, from 2:00 to 6:00. Additionally, a memorial service will be held at Ridglea Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX on March 21st at 12:00.
