Dorothy J. Price

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

A wonderful, loving wife and mother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

Dorothy J. Price was born on April 25, 1929 at home in the Bethel community to Roy M. and Myrtle (Litton) Brown. She attended Bethel and Shawnee schools, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1947 and was a member of Girls State. She also attended Oklahoma Baptist University and was on the honor roll for 3 years.

She married John Price at Calvary Baptist Church on July 15, 1951 by Rev. W.F. Crow. Dorothy and John were parents of one son, John Benton Price. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year. Dorothy was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church.

She was employed by S.H. Kress, Southwestern Bell Telephone, Kinney Shoes as district secretary and St. John’s Hospital, Joplin, Missouri as a laboratory technician. She loved praising the Lord in song wherever life’s journey took her and participated in her church’s musical worship. Dorothy was very supportive of children’s ministry and the shoe ministry at Rock Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brothers; grandparents: Clarence and Ida Litton and George M. and Winifred Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years; one son: Ben Price; three sisters: Christine Young, Catherine Skeene and Evelyn Hudson and spouse, Max; one brother and wife, Robert and Debby Brown; many nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Royce and Martha Stout, James and Rose Marie Banks, and David and Sandra Burton.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Rose Manor for their love and compassionate care over the past nine months.
