

Floyd was one of 10 children. His family grew up on a farm in Oregon where they worked hard in the fields. He attended primary and secondary schools in Hillsboro, Oregon. While in high school, he became the State Champion Wrestler in 1953. He went on to obtain his high school general education development certificate of equivalency from the State of Oregon during his Air Force service. He entered the Air Force in December of 1953. He served active duty in England, Philippines, Taiwan, Germany, Okinawa, Iran, Italy, Hawaii, Newfoundland and Guam, as well as a number of assignments in the United States. His duties in the Air Force were those of a Communications Technician.
He married the love of his life, Connie Mae Snow on August 2, 1958 in Las Vegas. Together they dominated the bowling alleys as a team in couple’s bowling. They went on to have two sons, Bruce Derek and Troy Wade Edwards. Countless hours were spent fishing at the lake with family and friends.
After 20 years of service, on April 1, 1974, Floyd retired from active federal service in the Air Force. After his life in the service, Floyd became an established and successful business owner.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Kim Edwards and Troy and Christina Edwards; grandchildren: Felicia Smith (Rowdy), Kari Wood (Travis), Austin Edwards (Hannah), Serene Porter (Micah), Celia Edwards, Logan Edwards, Hezekiah Edwards (Zhayda), Cherish Edwards, Jonathan Edwards, Charity Edwards, Alexander Edwards, Pristine Edwards, James Edwards, and Robert Edwards; great grandchildren: Caidan Hoover, Malachi Smith, Marlee Smith, Zoey Smith, Camryn Wood, Parker Wood, Brynlee Wood, Madden Wood, and Nora Edwards; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Connie Edwards.
A visitation for Floyd will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:55 AM, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 16006 S Rock Creek Rd, Shawnee, OK 74801.
