James J. Gross

James J. Gross, 90, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on December 23, 2025. He was born October 29, 1935 to Geneva Hutchison and Edgar Gross in Moore, Oklahoma. James graduated from Shawnee High School with the class of 1953 and later attended the University of Oklahoma and obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma Baptist University. He joined the operating department at Oklahoma Natural Gas in 1958, he was then promoted to cathodic protection inspector two years later and in 1962 became a district sales representative. He was active in community affairs in Shawnee, served as a scoutmaster of Shawnee's Troop 47 and property chairman of the First Christian Church of Shawnee. James was active in the Lion's Club of Muskogee for a number of years and served as President. He married Joyce Delila Boland on July 29, 1955 and was married until her death in 1992. He married Martha Valdeen Porter in 1995 and was married until her

death in 1999. James was well versed in all things to do with outdoors. One of the very best fisherman in Oklahoma,

a “Predator”, so to speak when it came to hunting. Fishing and hunting were his most favorite things to do, and also loved his family get togethers. He also enjoyed his fishing trips to Alaska and Cabo San Lucas. James loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends and his very special friend, Lora Rae Pierce. Eating out was a favorite past time. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Antel and her husband, Steve of Oklahoma City. He is preceded in death by Pamela Magers, his daughter. James has four grandchildren; Ginger Magers, Heather Dawson, Carrie Parker and Jeremy Hixson. James has one brother, Bill Gross of Longview Texas. He also has two stepchildren; Michael Porter and Martha Jane Porter Gay. He was blessed with many great grandchildren as well as many friends and family members. A very special thank you goes out to his caregiver, Edward "Bo" Waide. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m., January 17, 2026, at Lake Eufaula Christian Church located at 2100 OK-9, Eufaula, OK 74432. Minister Jeremy Little will be officiating.
