Janie L. West Swanner- Hartshorn

Janie Lenore (West) Swanner-Hartshorn was born July 8, 1923 in Bixby, OK to Goldie (Lumley) and Chauncey West, and passed with family by her side on August 21, 2011 in Shawnee. She graduated from Harrison School in Shawnee and worked various jobs through her lifetime. Her hobbies were making dolls, clowns, doll clothes and collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia. Her greatest achievement and proudest moments were her capacity to love and to bring joy to her family and all who knew her, and being and playing with her grandchildren. She attended Pioneer Baptist Church, and married Oscar C. Swanner August 2, 1943 until his death on February 8, 1967, then married Cornelius Hartshorn on May 24, 1986 until his death on December 10, 1995. She is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son, Joan May of Shawnee; Shirley Brannock and husband, Tom, of Shawnee; Hazel Chapman and husband, Ed, of Locust Grove; son, Darrell Swanner of Shawnee; 3 sisters, twin- Vera O’Conner of Konawa, OK; Gladys Beavers of Shawnee; and Mary Lou Harmon of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren, Donald and Terri May, Mary May, Douglas May, Kay Ford, Teresa and Glenn Ferber, Ted and Judy Chapman, Shelly and Alan Golden, Marci and Rick Nay, David and Scott Brannock; 14 great grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, Amber, Laci May, Taylor Ford, Ashia Hillman, Mercedes Hall, Chase and Rowdy Endress, Jeffrey and Katy Chapman, Calvin Nay, Laura and Josh Loomis, Krista Golden, Logan, Zack, Max, and Maggie Brannock; and 3 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant son Clifford Boyd; 2 sisters, Ruth Harmon and Daisy Keith; 3 brothers, David West, Alan West and Samuel West. Her visitation will be 8 to 8pm, Wednesday, August 24 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Her graveside service will be 10am, Thursday, August 25 at Resthaven Memorial Park and then a memorial service at 12pm, August 25 at the Pioneer Baptist Church of Shawnee, OK.
