Louis Gibson Maltos, Jr. was born on the hot day of August 23, 1933 to proud parents, Louis and Oralia (Page) Maltos, Sr. in San Antonio, Texas. He passed from this life on April 8, 2024 at his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with his loving family by his side.
After high school Louis joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 25 years, earning numerous decorations, including the Purple Heart. After retiring from the Air Force he went to work for Southwestern Bell. While there, he oversaw the centralization of Oklahoma SWB operations and implemented fiber optic development in Oklahoma. After 25 years of dedicated civilian service he retired again.
On March 18, 1956 Louis married the love of his life, Audrey Page, in Savannah, Georgia. They went on to spend 68 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneer Club. In his free time he enjoyed watching sports, making crafts, and working on projects for his family. He felt his most important time was spent with his family, he and Audrey traveled near and far to see them.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Oralia Maltos; brothers, Edward Maltos and Ricardo Maltos; sisters, Lucille Hernandez and Janie Huizar.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Audrey Maltos; brother, Robert (Alma) Huizar; sister, Delores (Ralph) Maltos-Reyna; daughter, Teresa Ledbetter; son, James (Robbie) Maltos; son, Louis (Suzanne) Maltos; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Louis’ name to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 632 North Kickapoo Avenue, Shawnee, OK 74801.
A visitation for Louis will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral service will occur on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Benedict Catholic Church, 632 N Kickapoo Ave, Shawnee, OK 74801. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
