Marilyn Joan Mullican (Nana) went to her eternal home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 11, 2022. She was born February 24, 1936 in Newton, Kansas to Loren William and Gladys Berle Winney (Vickers). She attended Shawnee High School and the University of Oklahoma.
Her family moved to Shawnee from Kansas when she was in elementary school to allow her father to work for the Shawnee Milling Company. Marilyn was always active in her church and many school activities. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was the homecoming queen of Shawnee High School Class of 1954. Shawnee was also where she met the love of her life at the age of 13, Don Mullican, and later married him on March 31,1956. She devoted all of her life to him and the rest of her family. They were married for 65 years before his passing last May. She was fondly known as Nana to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was a wonderful mom and Nana. She attended countless football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, dance and choir recitals for sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her profession was in accounting and payroll before she retired from Oral Roberts University and then worked with Don in his business, SCL, Inc.
Marilyn and Don lived in Bristow, Duncan and Mustang before settling in Bixby for 46 years where she was an active member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church before moving to Texas. Some of Marilyn’s proudest moments were her sons obtaining their degrees, marrying their wonderful wives and all of the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don, parents, Loren W. and Gladys B. Winney; her brother Ret. Col. Charles W. Winney, and her grandson Stevie.
She is survived by her sons Don Mullican, Jr. and wife Angie, and Steve Mullican and wife Kim; grandchildren Amber Rhodes and husband John, Crystal Hooper and husband Phillip, Don Mullican III (Chip) and wife Mattie, Stephanie Heitman and husband Ren, and Sam Mullican; great-grandchildren Zach, Addie, Tyler, Chi, Desi, Melissa, Max and Mabel; 3 nieces and 5 nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
