

Richard “Rich” Lee Harrell was born April 12, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas to Dewey and Marie (Holstein) Harrell. He passed from this life August 12, 2024 at his home in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, with his loving family by his side.
Rich graduated from Earlsboro High School, and then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Master’s Degree in Architecture, as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. Rich was proud to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia. Rich was one of the founding fathers of the Mid America PVA (1979, Paralyzed Veterans of America). He was a very big advocate for the disabled. He was a carpenter by trade. Rich enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, playing pool, basketball, skiing, scuba diving, and bowling. He was able to work with Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and help set up 7 special hunts for the non-ambulatory. Rich also organized the first Bass Tournament in 1987 for PVA. He also enjoyed going to Colorado and Caddo Lake.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Dewey and Marie Harrell, and son, Timmy Harrell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Donna Harrell; brother, Ronnie and wife, Cheryl Harrell; daughter, Madeline Fifer; step-daughter, Angela and husband, Kurt Kingham; step-daughter, Shelly and husband, Darin Webley; step-son, Robert Brown; grandchildren: Madison Chapman, Morgan Chapman, Cody Hale, Kaitlin Hicks, Chris and Sarah Webley, Anthony and Jo Beth Brown, Dalton and Destiny Brown, along with many great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Rich’s name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 6108 N.W. 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73132 or midamericapva.harnessgiving.org.
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 15, 2024 AT 10:00 AM, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 16006 S Rock Creek Rd, Shawnee, OK 74801.
