She was born on May 17, 1970 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mitch and Sharon Gregory.
She was a loving and compassionate person who loved horses, cats, books and quilts. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your heart.
She graduated from Bishop McGinnis High School in 1988. She then went to William Wood College with a double major in Equestrian Science and English, graduating in 1992. She later graduated from Texas Women’s College with a Masters in Library Science. She was a librarian in several Texas colleges before coming back to Oklahoma as a research librarian at Oklahoma State University. While at Oklahoma State, she published several articles, was on several national committees, and obtained tenure.
She had rheumatoid arthritis at an early age, which affected her daily responsibilities at Oklahoma State, and brought her career to an early end. She later became involved in Cimarron Valley Quilters Guild, Quilts of Valor, and the American Quilter’s Society. Her quilts were works of art, which were admired by all. One of her greatest joys was making quilts of valor for veterans and being able to present them to those who served our country.
She had a kindness about her that loved all people and sincerely loved helping others, whether in the library or the quilter’s guild.
Her grandparents, James M. and Opal Gregory, and Buck and Doris Wood, preceded her in death, as well as her special friend David Oberhelman.
She is survived her parents, Mitch and Sharon Gregory, her brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Amy Gregory, her two nephews, Cole Gregory and Evan Gregory, whom she loved so much. Aunt Tori was very special to both Cole and Evan. She was always searching for that special book for them only to sometimes find that they had already read the book. Also, Delphi, her special cat who was always by her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A special thanks to Linda and John Riley, who were kind and loving to Tori during a time when she was unable to do things for herself.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She will be buried between her loving grandmother Opal Gregory and her great grandmother “Pammie” Borden. Memorials in honor of Tori may be sent to Wings of Hope in Stillwater, Oklahoma or Quilts of Valor Foundation.
