Barbara Ann Akers, 91, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky on June 2, 1933, to the late Robert and Ruth “Cooper” Jackson. Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Church of God
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Bill Akers; son, Robert Lacey; father of her children, Estel Lacey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sharon Goforth, Janet Lacey Shrock, Laura Rheaume, Beverly Johnson and Sabina Brock; sons, Billy and Bruce Akers; sisters, Janice (Gayle), Shirley, Lorrine (Danny) and Nadine (Don); brother, Harry Jackson (Sonya); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. until time of service.
