Barbara Rae Humphrey

Barbara Rae Humphrey, age 91, of Louisville, Ky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 21, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 28, 1931, to the late Russell Searle and Marguerite (Berteaux) Searle. Barbara was a stenographer for 42 years at United Mercantile, she was a member of the Louisville Free Public Library, where she read hundreds of books over the years, she enjoyed ice skating, the beach, she was an avid television watcher for her special programs, she liked lighthouses so much she once took a trip to Novia Scotia , however most of all she loved her family, her children, and grandchildren were her world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Katherine Jorgenson, and grandson Chase Maggard.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Scott Humphrey (Leanna), Steve Humphrey (Sherry), Mike Humphrey (Cathy), brother, Russell Searle, eight grandchildren, Sarah Humphrey (Jim Hall), Amy Humphrey Stevens (Tyler), Kyle Mayfield (Mariah), Eric Mayfield (Jill), Chase VanBibber, Alex Conley, Beth Maggard, Chris Humphrey (Marlana), she had twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of her service.

The family of Barbara Humphrey would like to thank the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Unit for all the great care they gave their mother.
