Benny Blake Whitney, Sr., age 79 of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 25, 2026. He was born on September 12, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ada Rose (Minor) and Billy Duncan Whitney, Sr. Benny was a proud veteran of The United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He received several medals and honors during his service, including The Purple Heart award. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball, and working in his yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Huffines) Whitney.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his sons, Benny Whitney, Jr. and Todd Whitney (Lisa); grandson, Cole Whitney; brother, Billy Whitney, Jr. (Barbara); sisters, LeAnne Whitney and Denise Brunsman (Greg) along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
