

SSgt Bert Campbell, age 91 of the Carl M. Brashear Radcliff Veterans Center, returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 27, 2026.
Bert was born on May 1, 1934, in Krypton, KY, to the late Luther and Lena Eversole Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Wilma Jean Campbell; his three stepsons, Marlin, Johnny and Michael Thomas; eight siblings, Marie Pauline Campbell Sparks, Gladys Irene Campbell Johnson, Gertrude Campbell Monday, Ruby Helen Campbell Stamper, Loraine Campbell Potts, Marjorie “Margie” Ann Campbell Benton, Audrey Jean Campbell and Junior Roy Campbell; and one step-sister, Amanda Campbell Snyder.
Mr. Campbell leaves to cherish his memory, his sister-in-law, Doris Pitts; several step-grandchildren, including Dustin Thomas (Adrienne), Shannon Ritter (Shane) and Carrie Thomas (Sebastian Billman); several nieces, nephews, and a host of other dear family and friends.
Mr. Campbell served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era, retiring in 1972. He and Wilma met on a trip to the Holy Land and married in 1983. They made Goshen, KY, their home and worshiped for several years at Christ’s Open Door Fellowship Church in Pendleton, KY. Bert’s loved ones are sincerely grateful for the excellent care he received at the Carl M. Brashear Veterans Center in Radcliff for nearly four years.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Road) on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with military funeral honors and burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Advisory Council of the Carl M. Brashear Veterans Center (100 Veterans Drive, Radcliff, KY 40160) or to Christ’s Open Door Fellowship Church (P.O. Box 181, Pendleton, KY 40055).
