Charles "Chuck" William Holmes

Charles William “Chuck” Holmes, known as “Papa Charles” to his family, age 91, of Louisville returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born on October 22, 1933, in Adair County, Kentucky to the late Alonzo and Florence (Burton) Holmes. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of faithful service. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years and retired as Pastor of Church of Our Savior after 50 years. Chuck loved roses, fishing and taking trips to visit the beach, but his true passion was spending time with his family and serving Our Lord.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Holmes and 6 brothers and sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 69 years, Hilda Mae “MeMe” (Burris) Holmes; daughter, Kimberly Thurman (Butch); granddaughter, Amanda Robinette (Jeremy); great-granddaughters, Taylor Robinette and Addison Robinette and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 9 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
