Darrell Clifford Busby-Smith

Darrell Clifford Busby-Smith, age 59, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born on March 11, 1964 to Shirl Kelly and the late Edward D. Smith in Union City, Tennessee and was raised in Fulton County, Hickman, Kentucky. Darrell joined the United States Marine Corps in 1984 til 1989 where he met and married Sandy (Burba) Smith in 1987 while stationed at Yuma, Arizona. Both being from Kentucky, they eventually settled in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Darrell spent 31 years working at Carbide Industry of Louisville which he retired from on September 11, 2023. Raising two sons, Shane and Garrett Smith, Darrell absolutely loved coaching the Vikings Little league football team of Bullitt County, teaching his boys and wife hunting and fishing skills, and always hunting deer, geese and ducks. He was blessed with two grandbabies, Owen and Parker, and a wonderful daughter-in-law Morgan (Parks) Smith. Everyone who really knew Darrell, knows he could fix anything and loved Rock-n-Roll music and hanging out with friends drinking Busch light beer.

Darrell Smith is survived by his wife, Sandy (Burba) Smith; sons, Shane Smith (Morgan), Garrett Smith; grandbabies, Owen and Parker Smith; mother, Shirl Kelly (Darrell) of Clinton, KY; sisters, Melinda Smith, Kathy Pessefall (Kelly), Tracy Jackson; brothers, Mark Smith, Bobby Busby; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceding him in death is his father, Edward Smith (Martha); sister, Tammy (Kelly); niece, Lindsey Atzinger.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial to follow in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Tunnels to Towers in Darrell's Memory.
