Doris Mae Giles

Doris Mae Giles, age 87, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was born on October 13, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Marshall “Doc” and Beatrice Abel. Doris was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church. She was a stay-at-home mom while her sons were growing up and nurtured and cared for them. She was always happy and cheerful and would give anyone anything she had if she knew they needed it. Doris took pride in a clean home and considered honesty to be of utmost importance. Her love of Elvis Presley will always be remembered by those who knew her. She was fondly known as “Aunt Dorisy” by those who were graced with her kindness and caring. Sometimes her “unpredictable” side would come out but her family and friends knew this just added to Doris’ charm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Benita Rigdon and Mary Murphy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Todd Giles (Wendy) and Tim Giles; granddaughter, Sidney Giles; brothers Joseph Abel and Charles “Charlie” Abel (Evelyn); fur-baby, Charlie Dog and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
