Jimmie Gibson Sr.

Mr. Jimmie Gibson Sr., age 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with his family by his side. Jimmie was born in Grayson County, in Snap Kentucky on August 2, 1946, to the late Mack Gibson and Iva (Williams) Gibson. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw. Jimmie worked for 35 years with Local 576 as a Construction Worker, he loved spending time with his family on his home place, it gave him much joy and happiness to watch them all grow up over the years. He also was an avid University of Kentucky fan, enjoyed starting his mornings with a good home cooked country breakfast, and watching westerns on the television. Jimmie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Glen Gibson, Cletus Gibson, Bradley Gibson, Delmer Gibson, sisters Ileen Salsman, Lillian Herdt, Ora Rivas, Cloretta Herdt, and Doris Wayne. 

He survived by his loving wife of 60 years Patricia Gibson, sons Jimmie Gibson Jr. (Catherine), Raymond Mack Gibson, Perry Gibson (Leslie), 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, brothers Leslie Gibson (Shirley), Hank Gibson (Debbie), sisters Ernestine Lindsey (Wilbert), Judy Zelezny, along with nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
