

Mr. John (Tom) O’Bryan Jr., 77, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Tom was born in New Haven, Kentucky on October 20, 1945, to the late John Thomas O’Bryan Sr., and Lula Marguerite (Downs) O’Bryan. Tom retired from the Naval Ordnance in Louisville, Ky after 20 plus years of service. He served in the United States Air Force, he led a simple life and had a playful sense of humor. He was a kind man, humble, and loving. Tom was also clever and full of knowledge that he gained throughout his life experiences: as a mechanic, carpenter, welder, and gardener- he could fix or build anything. He will be remembered for all the great heart and humor he shared with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene (Miles) O’Bryan, son John O’Bryan III, son-in-law Jerry Burford, and brother Frankie O’Bryan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Debbie Burford, daughter-in-law Kim O’Bryan, grandchildren, Courtney (Shane and Luke), Samantha (Matt), Brandon, Megan, and Jamie, great-grandchildren, Fynley, Hank and Beau, sisters, Mary Thompson, and Nancy Coulter, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy.), with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home and again Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family ask that in Lieu of flowers that donation’s be given to St. Jude’s Hospital.
