Joseph Robert "Bobby" Ballard

Joseph Robert “Bobby” Ballard of Fairdale, Kentucky, formerly of Calvary, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph “Doodle” and Mary Belle (Spalding) Ballard, born on December 16, 1931, in Marion County, Kentucky. He died at 12:12 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, at the age of 93. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He loved U of K, gardening, golfing and watching the hummingbirds. He united in marriage to Doris (Cook) Ballard who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Ballard and Phil Ballard and sisters, Nancy Jean Ballard, Betty Ballard Mudd, Sally Thomas and Brenda Davenport.

He is survived by his 5 daughters; Christy Druin (Mike), Robyn Gabehart (Steve) of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Holly Hafley (Roger) of Lebanon, Kentucky, Cindy Copley (Greg) of Brooks, Kentucky and LeeAnna Schweiss (Tim) of Fairdale, Kentucky;  2 sisters, Agnes Alcorn of Florence, Kentucky and Charlotte DesRoches of New Hampshire;  13 grandchildren, Dylan Hash, Justin Gabehart, Blake Gabehart, Cassidy Wheatley, Dalton Mullins, Carrie Puckett, Jacob Copley, Tomi Jean Baker, Ashley Hafley, Austin Hafley, Shannon Delk, Justin Druin and Angela Goodall; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 1 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
