Joyce Young

Joyce Ann Young, age 82, of Bardstown, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, April 27, 2026, with loving family by her side. She was born on September 28, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Carl and Lillian (Perkins) Wilkins. Joyce was a caregiver; her selflessness and caring personality will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, traveling to Louisiana for the SECC Tournament was a highlight of her life, Joyce enjoyed watching her soap operas. Joyce loved family vacations, especially traveling to the Caribbean, where she swam with sharks and petted stingrays. Her spare time found her crocheting or reading but her true passion was her family; spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren is what Joyce held most dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Harrison Young, Sr. and her sisters, Bessie Keith and Mildred Johnson.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her daughter, Marsha DeArmond (Gary); son, Elliott Harrison Young, Jr. (Tina); grandchildren, Amanda Haire (Joseph), Jessica Temple (John), Erika Young (Dylan), Molly Gordinier (Stephen), Lee Ann Buchanan (Jason) and Emma Coleman; great-grandchildren, Korben, Peyton, Levi, Lilee, Layla, Lane, Jayden, Mia, Cre, Evelyn, Leo, James, Gaby, Cameron and Bella; great-great-grandchildren, Clayton and Theodore; brother, David Wilkins; fur-baby, Charlie and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
