Mrs. Martha “Louise” Brown, age 81, of Preston Park returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Baptist East Hospital. She was a kind and generous soul to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by those who called her mom, maw-maw and dear friend. Louise was devoted and faithful to her family, spending much of her time cooking and serving up warmth and love, tending to the needs of her husband, six children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Caring for and serving others was her greatest joy and she had many outlets to do so. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she also volunteered, and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Harmony Chapter where she held multiple stations throughout the years. She was also a member of the Eastern Parkway Quilting Club, where she most recently sewed a quilt for her youngest great-granddaughter.
Among those that preceded her in death are her parents, Watt and Margie (Willoughby) Doles; husband, James “Jimmy” Brown; grandson, Corey Kelty; brother, Tommy Doles; and sisters, JoMae Blair and Simone Harwell. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sharon Kelty, David Brown, Michael Brown (Bonita), Richard Brown (Joan), Bobby Brown and Mark Brown (Valerie); 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; extended family and countless friends. We would like to express deep gratitude to those who cared for our mom at Baptist East and especially to her personal nurse and granddaughter, Ashley Brown.
When recently asked thoughts about the end of her life, Louise expressed gratitude for the long, full life she’d been given and all she’d been able to accomplish. She spent her days making life richer and fuller for so many- one gesture, one pie, one gift, one quilt, one hug and one smile at a time. Louise took great comfort in knowing that Heaven was waiting for her, and we will do the same.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, November 9, 2018 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 1-8 pm and on Friday from 9 am until time of service at the funeral home. Family video on www.subfuneralhome.com
