Martha "Sissy" Jean Brooks

Mrs. Martha “Sissy” Jean Brooks, age 61, of Shepherdsville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Sissy was born in Louisville, KY on December 29, 1963 to the late Mary Sue Brooks and Maurice Brooks.

Sissy attended Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and she was unwavering in her faith. She loved to beautify the life of others as a skilled hairdresser, making meaningful connections and making others feel special through her work. Always put together, her radiant energy made every room brighter, and her warmth was felt by all who knew her. She was a true reflection of love, grace and strength. Sissy’s lovely heart and spirit will live on through her family and friends. There are no words to express how deeply loved and cherished she is to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, her sister, Paula Brooks; sister-in-law, Tammy Renee Koch and her grandmother, Pauline Hyde.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Stephen L. Koch; children, Travis Gardner (Chelsey) and Tyler Gardner (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Harley, Eli, Riley and Ryan; brother, William Brooks Jr.; nieces, Tiffany and Tarah; nephews, Michael and Shane; cousin, Angela Feathers along with her daughter, Shana Feathers (both of El Paso, TX) and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of her service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, for research for those facing pancreatic cancer.
