Ora Jean Lawrence Martin

Mrs. Ora Jean Lawrence Martin, age 88, of Louisville. Our much loved mother and Bob's treasured bride of seventy years, Ora Jean Lawrence Martin, joined her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, March 27. Jean was born on June 17, 1927, to Orent E. and Jane Chandler Lawrence of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky. An accomplished pianist and school valedictorian, Jean caught the eye of Robert S. Martin in high school, and the two were married in 1945 while he served in the Army Air Corps. For fifty-four years, she kept his dental practice running smoothly.

Jean's life revolved entirely around her family and her faith in God, and she relished the monthly family dinner she hosted at her home. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grand-daughters were a source of tremendous pride, and she loved to share stories of their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. She was devoted to her faith and her friends at Deer Park Baptist Church, and conscientiously served as resident condo postmaster and delivered newspapers for her friends at Audubon Woods.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved mother and father, her brother, Bobby; her sister, Lois; and her sister, Sarah Rexroat. She is survived by her adoring husband, Bob; her children, Robert, Jr. (Wanda); Ruth Carrico (Bob); Sarah Watson (Keith); her grandchildren, Martha Chandler, Geneva, and Robert Martin; Jonathan (Kelly) and Joseph Carrico; Adam (Jenn) and Evan Watson; her great-grand-daughters, Nora Carrico, and Fiona, Freya, and Ivy Watson; and her niece, Jane Hayes (Steve Underwood).

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Deer Park Baptist Church (1733 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40205) with burial in Lebanon Junction Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
