Robert Lewis Vincent

Mr. Robert Lewis Vincent (89) of Louisville, KY passed away early December 16, 2022, at his home following a lengthy illness.  He was born in Central City, KY and later moved to Louisville.  He was a 1951 graduate of Fairdale High School in Jefferson County, KY. He was also proud of the fact that he played on the Fairdale High School basketball team and was part of the “Fabulous Five” team who played in the Kentucky State Basketball Tournament in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Italy during his tour of duty.  He retired from Rohm and Haas Chemical Company in Louisville.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairdale, KY for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by mother Hula Mae Lewis Paulley and his father, Morton Vincent. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Vivian Ford Vincent.  He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa (Scott) Bivins of Greenville, KY and Melanie Havlik of Louisville, KY.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jared (Jessica) Able of Beechmont, KY, Jon (Lindsey) Able of Newbern, NC, Noah Havlik of Louisville, KY and Jane Elieff of Charleston, SC.  He also leaves behind twin great-granddaughters, Cora and Lena Able.  He is also survived by his special friend, Sue Koons of Fairdale, KY. Funeral service will be at Schoppenhorst, Underwood, and Brookland Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10:00 am until time of the service at 2:00 pm.  The service will be officiated by his nephew, Dr. Keith Stillwell and his son-in-law Scott Bivins.  Burial will follow in Brookland Cemetery immediately after the service.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to First Baptist Church, Fairdale, KY or Hosparus Care in Louisville, KY
