Ronnie Adkins

Mr. Ronald Thomas Adkins, age 71, of Shepherdsville returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was born on December 31, 1950, in Columbia, Kentucky to Arlene (Gaskins) Adkins and the late Chester Thomas Adkins. Ronnie worked for Publishers Printing Company, he retired in 2009 after 40 plus years of service. Ronnie was a great husband and provider, great dad to his two wonderful children, the worlds best Papa to his four grandchildren and all his grand dogs especially Kiara and Sugar. Ronnie was passionate about golfing, so much so that he helped coach at his grandson’s high school, he enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, he loved the outdoors and boating, and he enjoyed wood working and helping with home projects for his family.

 He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Billy Adkins; sister, Joanna White; and sister-in-law, Hazel Adkins, Father-in-law, Herbert (Slim) Cox, sister-in-law, Tammy Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 49 years Cindy Adkins; daughter, Shelley Westwood (Jimmy); grandchildren, Ariel and Brady; daughter, Bethany Wilkerson (Troy); grandchildren, Megan and Trevor; mother, Arlene Adkins; brother, Larry Adkins; sister-in-law, Theresa Adkins; brother, Timmy Adkins (Dana); sister, Barbi Goodin (Larry); brother, David Adkins (Tonda); mother-in-law Doriscella Cox, brother-in-law Tony Cox  (Melody); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 10:00 am in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 1 :00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
