Roy Edward Grissom, Sr.

Mr. Roy Edward Grissom, Sr., age 74, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with his family by his side. Roy was born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky on November 18, 1950, to the late Otis Grissom and Clara Mae (Firkins) Grissom. Roy was the owner and operator of Grissom’s Auto Care for 35 years, he was a member of Maryville Baptist Church for 48 years, he was a deacon for 35 years and lead the jail and nursing home ministry. He loved the Lord and enjoyed talking to others about him and encouraged them to go to church. Roy also loved car racing, and figure 8 racing at the old fairgrounds motor speedway, drag racing at Ohio Valley, loved working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who adoringly called him Pa. He was a loving husband for 58 to his wife Mary, a great father to his children Carol and Roy, Jr., he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Mary Grissom, daughter Carol Williams (Buddy), son Roy Edward Grissom Jr., (Linda),2 grandchildren Alex Williams (Kelsea), Dallas Grissom (Alexus), 3 great-grandchildren Axle and Heidi Williams, Ridley Grissom, brother Harold Grissom, sister Hazel Grissom.  Along with a host of other dear family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Maryville Baptist Church. (130 Smith Lane, Louisville, Ky, 40229). The visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway Shepherdsville, Ky 40165) on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday at Maryville Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
