Sally Underwood

Sally Chism Underwood of St. Matthews, returned to her Heavenly Father Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Baptist Hospital East after a brief Illness. She was born and reared in St. Matthews, having graduated from Westport High School, worked at Nanz & Kraft Florist, Highland Cleaners and was a member of Beargrass Christian Church.

Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Herr Hickerson and Douglas Hickerson; and her former husband Lum Chism.

She is survived by her dear husband of fifteen years, Ben Underwood; sons, Matt Chism, his wife Erin and their children Ian and Cora; Adam Chism, his wife Laura and their daughter Isla; her sister, Sue Brake and her husband Roger; step children, Shannon Stahura, her husband Rob, Kerri Horton, her husband David, Zane Underwood, his wife Traci, Joel Underwood, his wife Tricia, Beau Underwood and Ben Underwood, Jr.; fourteen step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Austin Nally, his wife Donna, Joe Brake, his wife Stacey, Shawn Cherry, her husband Bob, Catherine Chapman, her husband, Zack; grand- nieces and grand- nephews, Zachary Nally, Taylor Nally, Beau Brake, Beckett Brake, Caroline Chapman and Natalie Chapman. One great grand-nephew, Cam Nally; A host of friends and Sally's rescue dog, Mary.

Mrs. Underwood has been taken to Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Highway 44 one mile east of Bardstown Rd.) in Mt. Washington where friends may pay their respects 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
