Nancy Short Mitchell, 94, died April 19, 2016 in Lynnwood, WA. She was born in Tacoma, WA on October 8, 1921. Attending UPS in Tacoma, she met her future husband, George E. Mitchell; they wed in 1944 and moved to Seattle. Nancy enjoyed knitting, sewing, and keeping a colorful array of beautiful flowers in her garden. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. George and Nancy travelled and enjoyed spending winters in California and visiting with friends. They were married 58 years until George's death in 2003.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband George Mitchell, and her parents Ralph W. and Lulu Short. She is survived by her daughters Linda Peak (Nick) of Edmonds, Ann Lovell (partner Benjamin) of Auburn, granddaughters Amy Stengele (Bill), Sarah Doherty (Mike), and great-grandchildren Barrett and Avery Stengele.
The family will be gathering privately in her honor. Nancy's family wishes to acknowledge Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County for their compassion. Also Alderwood Manor in Lynnwood, where Nancy spent her last month; we appreciate your sensitive caregiving.
