Born in Grafton, West Virginia on June 18, 1934, Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hazel Hufford, along with his siblings Geraldine Graham, Christina Wilson, Harry Hufford Jr., Mary Lou Thompson, Abigail Ambro, and Helen Bartlett.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Judith Coughlin Hufford, his sister Sandra Phillips (Wayne), of Richmond, Virginia, his sons Jeff Hufford (Chris) of Senoia, Georgia, Rod Hufford (Vicki), of West Yellowstone, Montana and Jerry Hufford, of Lilburn, Georgia. He was a beloved grandfather to Christina Pickering (Zach), Tiffany Smith (Dalton), Dylan Hufford of Fayetteville, Georgia, Ashley Mulrooney (Will), and a great-grandfather to Izaac and Scarlet Pickering and Lindy and Lia Mulrooney.
A graduate of Grafton High School, Frank served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1956-1958. After his military service, he began a career in Washington, D.C. at Modern Talking Pictures Service, an educational film distribution company. He was then transferred to Atlanta, Georgia, where he managed the local branch before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida as the National Television Manager for the company.
Frank was known for his sarcastic, dry wit, which his grandchildren and friends particularly enjoyed. Frank loved sports, including basketball, golf, and most importantly, West Virginia University sports – if they were winning – and made annual trips back for WVU college football games. Frank's favorite song was “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Until recently, Frank was a member of a monthly poker playing group with his friends. He dearly loved children and dogs and they enjoyed being around him.
Frank and Judy enjoyed some very unusual vacations where mishaps were guaranteed, but made for great stories.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 5373 Wydella Road, Lilburn, Ga., on Friday, August 8th at 11am. A reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Frank's honor.
