Gary was born at Grady Memorial Hospital to James and Louise Jerald on January 5, 1950. He attended Brown High School in Atlanta, GA. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star. His lifelong passions included classic cars, assisting fellow veterans with receiving benefits, and the Brown High School Rebels Alumni; he worked diligently for many years organizing websites and reunions for his fellow classmates.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eddie and Barry Jerald, and sister, Shirley Pittman. He is survived by one son, Roger Scott Jerald of Lilburn, GA and one daughter, Tammy Salm and her daughters, Cindysue Salm and Heather Salm of Salem, AL.
Formal viewing will be Friday, June 12, 2020 from 2PM to 4PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Cremation in Snellville, GA. A private ceremony will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday June 15, 2020; he will receive Military Honors with an Honor Guard and the playing of the taps.
