He is survived by his six sons: Jim Retter Jr. (Pam) of Social Circle GA, Mike Retter (Judy) of Fort Mill SC, Mark Retter (Donna) of Rossville GA, Bob Retter (Stacey) of Marietta GA, Scott Retter (Margaret) of Hoschton GA, Jon Retter (Amanda) of Braselton GA, sister-n-law Phyllis Angelucci, brother-n-law Albert Angelucci, several nieces and nephews, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Jim was born on June 22nd, 1933 to Adellia Patton in Bloomington Illinois. He led a full life being a loving husband to the late Laura Rose Retter, and a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Raised by his uncles on a farm, Jim developed many life skills such as hard work, ingenuity and a good set of moral values that he passed onto his children and grandchildren and all that knew him. He served two wartime years (1953-1954) in the army stationed in Korea. Before and after Korea, Jim worked for State Farm Insurance and during the last 36 years of his career, he worked for Graco Pump Corporation retiring as an Applications Engineer.
A visitation, honoring Jim, will be held for family and friends, on Saturday, May 11th, from 11am to 1pm at Eternal Hills Funeral Home located at 3594 Stone Mtn. Hwy, Snellville GA. Funeral services will follow at 1pm in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be immediately after at the Eternal Hills Memorial Garden.
