John R. McInerney

John Randle McInerney, 82, of Lawrenceville, GA went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 23,2024. John was born on September 1,1942 in Chattanooga, TN to Frances and Leonard Garner who preceded him in death.

John was a graduate of Lakeview High School’s (Fort Oglethorpe, GA) class of 1961. He was of the Methodist faith, a loving son, husband and father. John was an avid sports fan, most especially the Atlanta Braves and UGA Bulldogs football. One of John’s favorite pastimes was reading, with his favorite author’s being John Grisham, CJ Box and David Baldacci. John also enjoyed spending his time volunteering as an usher at McKendree UMC.

John began his career at DuPont chemical plant in Chattanooga, TN. He soon moved on to his lifetime career in the finance industry as a credit salesman servicing small businesses specializing in products like appliances, electronics and outdoor power equipment. He worked for various companies in his 30+ year career including Westinghouse, Borg Warner and Transamerica. After retirement he worked several years with Eternal Hills Funeral Home where he enjoyed being of service to grieving families.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Joy McInerney. He is survived by his loving daughter: Amy G Bowman (Jeff), Grandchildren: Jeffery (Dallas) Bowman Jr., and Hannah Marin Bowman, Sister in Law:Gay Owens, Niece: Beth DeFur (Stephen), 3 great nephews and 2 great-great nephews.

The family will receive family and friends at McKendree United Methodist church, 1570 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30043 on Saturday, January 4 from 11:30am-1pm with services to follow in the church sanctuary at 1 pm. Following the service there will be a committal ceremony in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens at 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to ALS United of Georgia, www.alsgeorgia.org.
