

Lillian Hayes Ellington, 89, formerly of Snellville, Georgia, died April 20, 2013 at Kentwood Nursing Facility in Augusta. A celebration of her life and funeral services will be held April 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, Georgia 30039. Rev. Dr. Cynthia Taylor, Rev. Lynn Prather, and Robert Dewey Cassell, III will officiate. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellington was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Herbert Boyce Hayes, Sr. and Clara Belle Hayes. Her husband of 39 years, Ben Lee Ellington, predeceased her.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was employed by the Southern Railway and worked in other positions where she displayed her talents.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue E. Plunkett, and her husband, Rick, of Smyrna, Georgia, her son, James B. (Jim) Ellington, and his wife, Michele, of Evans, Georgia, her brother, Herbert Boyce Hayes, Jr. of Belleair Beach Florida, and her grandchildren, Shay Riggins (Brad), Chad Plunkett (Mary), and Hayes Ellington, and her great grandchildren, Jackson Riggins, Sydney Riggins, Ellie Plunkett and Ben Plunkett.
The family wishes to express its sincerest gratitude to her pulmonologist, Dr. Donald H. Loebl, Jr., and to the staff at Kentwood Nursing Facility.
