Born in Haiti to Fertil Brillant & Suzanne Bellevue, she passionately shared her love of her heritage with her ever growing family through French Creole language, rich foods, soulful music, strongly-held beliefs and treasured traditions especially after she moved to America in July 1982. Not only was Loxane a proud Haitian, she was also a proud Catholic woman of faith. Through prayer and her relationship with God she found the strength to endure so much, more than most of us will know. Everything Loxane did was around her family and faith. Somehow she was able to provide even when she didn’t have it, even for those who weren’t her own. She never forgot those who helped and supported her during those tough times and tried to pay it forward in her life.
She was many things to many people. She was a Mother, a 2nd Mother, a Wife, a Grandmother, a Sister, an Aunt, a Nurturer, an Entrepreneur, a Healer, a Mentor, a Listener, a Woman of Faith, a Friend, a Moral Compass, a Force to be reckoned with. She taught us all how to love, to share what we had, to take care of family first, to value education, to work hard (serious hustle), to respect others, to respect ourselves, to be honest, to help others in need, to be proud of who we are, and to believe in the power of God.
The lessons Loxane Brillant taught us all will endure through her children, their children and all those touched by her life.
She is predeceased by her son, Meres Brillant.
She is survived by her brother Jesius Francois; her children, Ulrick Brillant, Marie Monique Jean-Pierre, Roosevelt Maison, Solange Jacquet, Mary Jane Johnson, Marie Erneste Jean-Paul Alamina, and Reginald Jean-Paul; their supportive spouses; as well as 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and even more extended family. She will be loved and cherished in the hearts of many forever.
