Sometimes when you meet a person, you just know, they are going to be your friend. Lynda Love Helms Triplett was that sort of person. With her radiant smile and hearty laugh, Lynda managed not only to do her work and do it well, she made friends every step along the way. Lynda made her mark as a hardworking colleague, a loyal team player and cherished friend from her first day till her last. We will miss her terribly.
Beginnings
Lynda Love Helms was born on March 30, 1960, to loving parents, Jim and Mary Love Helms, in Anniston Alabama. She was joined by her younger brother, Greg, two years later. Her father worked for the U.S. Forestry Service, and the family moved several times before settling in Snellville, Georgia, in 1973. There the family attended Snellville United Methodist Church, where Lynda was saved and baptized and participated in the MYF program. In 1977, she joined the church’s touring cast of “Godspell,” which became a highlight of her high school years. Upon graduation from South Gwinnett High School in 1978, she attended Berry College, then transferred to and completed her journalism degree from the University of Georgia in 1982.
Family & Career
Lynda spent most of her career working for Primerica. Starting with A.L. Williams in 1987, she wrote and produced Ken Durham’s weekly securities show for ALW-TV. Here she met Rodney Triplett, a freelance TV producer. After the couple married in October 1993, they moved to Columbus, OH, and then to Long Island, NY, where their daughter, Magnolia, was born. Soon after, they relocated to Los Angeles, where they welcomed their son, Calvin. The young family enjoyed happy years in LA, where Lynda spent her time as a stay-at-home mom, and Rodney worked as a sports news director.
In 2004, much to the delight of family and friends, the family returned to Atlanta for good. Lynda came back into Primerica in 2005, this time in Marketing. Past experience and company familiarity worked in her favor, as she quickly adapted to the current environment. Working as a support manager in the client solutions area, she assisted in the growth of the auto and home insurance and pre-paid legal business lines. Her cheery can-do attitude and efficient work ethic earned her the respect of home office teammates and field leaders alike.
In 2015, she was promoted to her current position with Women in Primerica. Of all her roles with Primerica, this proved to be her favorite, working directly with top female leaders in Primerica, traveling and attending meetings, providing much appreciated support in her inimitable way.
An Unexpected Good-bye
First diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2014, Lynda underwent the usual battery of treatment and was declared cancer-free. In late January 2016, scans revealed the cancer had returned. Though the best in treatment was administered, a return to health was not to be. Hospice care began March 2nd. Early on March 7th, Lynda flew away into the loving arms of her Savior, surrounded by her husband, children and family.
Lynda leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Rodney Triplett, their two children: daughter, Magnolia, age 20, and son, Calvin, age 18. She is survived by her parents, Jim and Mary Love Helms, of Dadeville, AL; her brother, Greg Helms, his wife, Paula, and their four children, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Grace and Sarah Joy, of Tianjin, China; her sister-in-law, Carol Preston, of Montgomery, AL; her brother-in-law and wife, Dusty and Debby Triplett, of Columbia, SC; and her aunt, Betty Helms, of St. Augustine, FL.
A Life to Celebrate
Lynda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and daughter, a compassionate and caring woman who did much for others and asked little for herself. She enjoyed life, loved her family, lived fully, laughed loudly and worked hard. She treasured her many friendships, as well as a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As her earthly life ended, her eternal life began, providing a peace and comfort for all her family and friends. And even though we hate to say good-bye, we rejoice in Lynda’s life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Lynda’s celebration event will held this Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home in Snellville. Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the “Celebrating Lynda” service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Lynda’s name to the Breast Cancer Research Fund at bcrfcure.org .
