
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sharon Ann Owens on the morning of June 5th, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer and a decline in health. In her final days, she was surrounded and supported by her unwavering family and caregivers. Originally born in Hartford, CT, in Rice Heights, Sharon became a resident of Atlanta, GA, in 1987, after her eldest daughter graduated high school. She resided in Atlanta for the remainder of her life.
Sharon is survived by her five children and their spouses: SaFiyaa Ma’at-Collins (Derrick), Sonya Little, Brandonn Little (Faye), Lauren Owens, and Lawrence Owens. Additionally, she is survived by her four grandchildren: Jazmyn Dailey, Michael Dailey, Lailani Rosado, and Zaire Williams. She is also remembered by her siblings: Patricia, Michelle, Debra, Sandra, Cynthia, Percy, Vincent, and Nathaniel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie Harris and Percy Harris.
Known as a maternal figure to many, Sharon was cherished and respected by a wide circle of acquaintances. Her selflessness and generosity touched the lives of numerous individuals, demonstrating her caring nature. Sharon shared a close bond with her children and grandchildren, embodying the role of a devoted matriarch. Renowned for her culinary skills, she was particularly celebrated for her exquisite Mac & Cheese and Collard greens.
Sharon possessed a fondness for exquisite perfumes and scarves, leaving behind a lingering, fragrant presence wherever she went. Her radiant smile illuminated every room she entered, and her friendship, sisterhood, and counsel were invaluable to many. Sharon was highly regarded for her community involvement, including volunteer political work and her longstanding collaboration with Congressman Scott, facilitated by her dear friend, Gail Aaron.
A celebration of life for Sharon will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, Cremation and Memory Gardens, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, Georgia 30039.
