

Joseph and Bloneva Lenora Mills. She was the third child of eleven siblings. As a young
child, Silvia attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. At an early age, she met and married
the love of her life—James Montgomery Taylor and they relocated to New York, NY. Silvia
was affectionately called “Sil-vee”, “Brown Eyes”, “Consuela” and “Auntie” by family and
friends.
Silvia possessed the same calm spirit as her mother. She will be remembered for her
peaceful spirit and sweet temperament. She enjoyed decorating, gardening, and cooking
for her family; especially johnny cakes, picadillo, and yellow rice with shrimp.
Silvia’s spiritual journey began in the Episcopal Church. In the early 1980’s she attended
Hope Missionary Baptist, NY and was committed to missionary service. She also served on
the church’s Senior Gospel Choir.
In 2005, when Silvia relocated to Loganville, GA, she attended Stronghold Christian Church
where she served as a Church Mother. She moved her membership to New Jerusalem
along with her daughter, Fay. Silvia participated in senior activities and enjoyed social
events like traveling and parties.
Silvia retired from Central Islip Psychiatric Hospital after twenty years of employment.
Silvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jimmy” Taylor. Their legacy
lives on through their six children: Blondelle Taylor, Sylvia Boaz, Jerome Taylor (Yenny
Nunez), Fay Taylor-Wright, Wendell Taylor, and Eve Taylor who preceded her in death on
March 20, 2020; son-in-love and daughter-in-love: Richard Wright and Valerie Jackson.
Her siblings: Mary Louise Mills-Stewart (preceded her death), Rebecca Mills, Josephine
Mills-Jones-Cash (preceded her death), Joseph Mills (preceded her death), Beatrice MillsRidgeway, Deloris Mills-Betancourt, William Mills, Charles Woods, John Woods, Theodore
Blatch, Marva Blatch-Irizarry; sisters-in-love: Gladys Malloy and Christine Green; preceded
in death are brothers-in-love: Ernest, Louis, and Eugene Taylor.
Eleven grandchildren: Rochelle Ling, Erica Epps, Jelani-Bem Garrett, Richard Wright, Jr.,
Idonia Williams, Rasta Wright, Devan Pinkney, Kyle Taylor-Mulligan, Alishia Carvelli, Leigh
Taylor, and Silvia Taylor.
Nineteen great-grandchildren: Teniqua Wright, Najuachia Epps, Shakuwra Garrett,
Quamecca Epps, Troy Ling, Tatiana Ling, Nahjeik Epps, Nabiya Garrett, Annesah Small,
Tiaja Wallace, Taylor Ling, Ayanna Garrett, Abena Garrett, Jelani-Bem Garrett II (deceased),
Malachi Wright, Josiah Wright, Eve DeGuzman, Nairobi Carvelli, and Jackson Mulligan.
Twelve great-great grandchildren: James Anderson, Jr., Jamal Gwaltney, Maliah Robinson,
Jade Anderson, Kaiden Mensah, Mizhani Epps, Kashmir Epps, Nzuri Collier, Surai George,
Zy-aire Crawford, Kaia Coker, and Jasmine Coker.
Silvia is also survived by MANY MANY very special nieces, nephews and friends that will
miss her dearly
