Steve was the youngest of three boys and the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland and Ukraine, Nathan and Rebecca (Chernoff) Cohen.
Steve was born on May 3, 1940 in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in the south Georgia town of Alma, where father Nathan founded and operated Cohen's of Alma department store that is still thriving today.
Steve adapted to the small town lifestyle which ultimately guided him in his later years. He enjoyed all sports and especially football where he lettered for Bacon County High School in the late 1950's.
Steve attended the University of Georgia where he later attained his degree in pharmacy. He soon after moved to Atlanta and had 3 boys of his own. Mack, Phil, and Ross completed the trio.
Like his small town upbringing, Steve preferred the local owned business to the large corporate franchises and worked for local Atlanta pharmacies Greenbriar in West End and Shackelford's in Morningside eventually owning and operating Pharr Road Pharmacy in Buckhead and later working at Barwick's Pharmacy in DeKalb County. He further pursued careers in insurance and technology systems before finally retiring with wife Betty in Loganville, Georgia.
His hobbies were, of course, sports, gardening, home projects, and stamp collecting. He would never miss on keeping up with his favorite teams the Braves and Bulldogs Football. He preferred reading the newspaper to get all the stats and inside details and listening to games on the radio.
As age and decline began to set in he focused on his final wishes of passing on the torches to grandkids Mikaela, Zack, Chelsea, and Andrew.
