Vincent “Vince” Nugent 87, returned to his heavenly home on July 13, 2017 after a lengthy illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Vincent was born to the late Anthony and Marcelina Nugent in Jamaica on February 12, 1930. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He moved to the United States in 1967, met and later married Marjorie on September 27, 1971 and raised their family. He worked for Avon Products for 20 years, retired then moved from Chicago to Snellville, Georgia in 2003. While working full-time at Avon Products Inc. Vince served as the Assistant Minister at Williams Memorial Church of God in Christ in Evanston, Illinois.
Vince helped raise three children with patience, discipline and humility. He encouraged them to believe in God, and be respectful of others.
Vince was kind, soft-spoken (until he was ready to preach the Word of God), and always had time to help everyone who needed his help. He imparted wisdom, and solved problems. Vince loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Vince is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; his children: Eula Francis, Michael Denton, Lorraine Jones and Martin Nugent; his grandchildren: Kimberly Lewis, Naomi Jones, Christopher Jones and Deandra Denton. His Brothers: Basil, Isaac, Eric, Stafford, Edgar and Sydney. Sister: Veronica Collins.
“GONE BUT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN”
Vincent was a man of God who believed in treating everyone fairly and was diligent in doing God’s work. His life was exemplified by each life he touched. He lived a life that was pleasing to the Lord; he was strong in faith and finished his course here on earth.
