Born on April 21, 1943, in New Haven, Connecticut, Amelia was the daughter of the late Americus and Annabelle (Fisco) Rubino. She enjoyed a blissful childhood in a large, loving Italian family, always speaking fondly of her wonderful parents, her brother Ralph, and the cherished memories of growing up in West Haven during the 40s and 50s. Amelia’s upbringing was filled with joy, and she always considered those years to be the best of her life.
Educated and employed as a legal secretary for many years, Amelia dedicated herself to her work, but it was her love for family that truly defined her life. She went on to marry and had two children, Margo and Barry, whom she adored. For the next 20 years, she devoted herself to raising them, attending countless activities, helping them with their studies, and offering wisdom and guidance whenever needed. Amelia was her children’s greatest supporter, always encouraging them to dream big and offering a comforting presence in times of need. She became a second mother to many of their friends as well, all of whom loved Amelia’s warm heart and fun-loving nature.
Amelia was also blessed with lifelong friendships. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together for good times and knew exactly how to host a memorable party. Her cherished home on Payne Drive was the venue for many joyful celebrations. She had a special flair for decorating, with a love for antiques and Victorian décor. Every corner of her home was filled with carefully selected treasures, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Amelia especially enjoyed hosting holidays, transforming her home into a magical place that reflected her attention to detail and love for her family. The Christmas morning gift spread beneath the tree was an unforgettable sight, a true testament to her dedication and affection. Amelia also had a profound love for flowers, the beauty of nature, and animals, finding peace and comfort in their presence.
Amelia is survived by her daughter, Margo Raymond and her husband Daniel; her son, Barry Eterginio and his fiancée Talia Mitchell; and three grandchildren, Leanne Raymond, and Chase and Lyla Eterginio. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Ralph Rubino.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the ASPCA at www.ASPCA.org to honor Amelia's love for animals.
Amelia will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Her family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4-7 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Interment will be held privately with her immediate family. To leave a message of remembrance for the family, please visit www.DellaVecchiaSouthington.com
