She was born in Cambuslang, Scotland, and came to Waterbury in May, 1952, following in the footsteps of her husband Patrick.
Employed twice by Waterbury Hospital, she was delighted in her position as a nurse's aide in the Nursery. Many years later she was an employee of The Taft School, Watertown, in the school laundry.
Widow of the late Patrick McAvoy Houston, she leaves her son, John, of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews in the US, Canada, Scotland and England.
