Born on August 11, 1960, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Arlene spent most of her life in the community she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis B. Feeley and Arlene (Chatfield) Feeley; her sister, Kathleen Feeley Barry; her brother, Robert E. Feeley; and her nephews, Raymond O’Neil, Jr. and Parker Barry.
Arlene attended St. Margaret Grammar School and Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury before continuing her education at St. Joseph’s College. There, she nurtured her lifelong love of art, especially charcoal and pastel illustration.
After knowing each other’s families for many years, Dennis and Arlene began their relationship in 1984. They were married in their home in Plantsville in 1985 where they raised their blended family, living together for over 40 years and continuing to care for Molly, until Arlene fell ill late last year.
Arlene shared a special bond with her daughter Molly, advocating for her and others with developmental disabilities, and was immensely proud of her son Alex’s resilience and courage as a US Marine veteran and now as a doting dad. As the eldest, she loved and admired the family Dennis built.
A proud, self-described “cat lady,” Arlene cared deeply for the neighborhood cats who always seemed drawn to her compassion. In her final months, her beloved cat, Bobby Seal, rarely left her side.
Arlene was a unique soul who loved watching classic movies and television shows, reading mystery novels, and exploring the rich history of the Feeley-Chatfield family lineage. She never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone she met, forming connections wherever she went.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Arlene’s memory to Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA), an organization dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where people of all ages and abilities can create, exhibit, and experience the arts.
Arlene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A short viewing and service will be on Saturday, February 14, from 9:00-11:00 am at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT.
