Carol Beatson

Born December 10, 1925 in Hartford she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary (Ward) Ryder.

Carol was a member of the Nurse Cadet Corps and graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing as an RN in 1948. She was a lifelong nurse and worked at Hartford Hospital, Bradley Memorial and Meriden Hospitals before working as a school nurse in the Southington school system for 21 years.

Carol is survived by her six children, Stephen and Betsy Beatson of Colchester, Karen and Bob Smith of Acton, ME, Jean Beatson and Frank Ferrigno of Jericho, VT, Mary and Mark Johnson of Harwinton, Jackie and Stan St. John of Southington and Leslie Beatson and Stacy Starkweather of Benica, CA, a sister Mary Hoff of Bethesda, MD; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Ryder and a sister Jean Coulahan.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St, Plantsville. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Carol (Ryder) Beatson, 88, of Southington passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late John F. Beatson, Jr.
