Daniel Bird Jr., 41, of Southington, Connecticut, was received into God’s loving care on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1984 to Dianne (Corrigan) and Dan Bird Sr. of Southington and was a proud graduate of the Southington High School Class of 2003.
Dan showed remarkable strength and faith in the face of every challenge. He was a passionate sports fan, especially of the Baltimore Ravens and the Boston Red Sox, but above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, generous heart, and the way he made everyone feel seen and cared for. Whether through a helping hand, a listening ear, or a simple act of kindness, Dan touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and quiet strength.
Dan devoted countless hours to coaching football, a role he cherished deeply and viewed as a way to serve and mentor others. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving on the coaching staff of the 2013 and 2014 Southington High School state championship teams. Even more meaningful to him, however, was the opportunity to coach alongside his brother, Derek—a bond rooted in faith, family, and shared purpose.
Dan was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, and his faith-filled life leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him. He is survived by his loving parents, Dianne and Dan Bird Sr.; his brothers, Derek Bird and his wife, Kathryn, and Dylan Bird, all of Southington; his grandmother, Estelle Corrigan of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins—especially Jillian Hubeny, who was more like a sister to him. He also leaves behind his two beloved nieces, Mia and Kelsey Bird, who were his pride and joy and a true blessing in his life.
Dan is reunited in heaven with his sister, Leanne; his grandparents, William Corrigan, Gloria Bird, and Richard Bird; and other beloved family members who have gone before him, where we trust they now share in God’s eternal peace.
