
Wolcott- Doris (Young) Gelinas, 78, formerly of Cedar Lane, passed away on Tuesday February 19, 2008 at the Cook Willow Health Center in Plymouth where she resided for the past 2 years. She had been the wife of the late John Gelinas.
Doris was born in Pittston, PA on November 26, 1929 and was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Fabian) Young.
She had been formerly employed by Timex and Mattatuck Mfg., Happy Hollow Farm in Wolcott, Waterbury Screw Machine, Venus Consolidated and RCRC.
Doris was a bowler at Wolcott Lanes, loved to play cards and do crossword puzzles, enjoyed Rock and Roll Music and dining out with family and friends. Doris was also an avid Red Sox fan. She had resided in Wolcott since 1957 and prior to that was a resident of Waterbury.
She is survived by a son Robert Gelinas of Wolcott, 2 daughters Karen Earley and her husband Martin of Oxford and Lynne Giacin and her husband Alex of Plymouth, two sisters Gladys Colapinto of Wolcott and Eloise Farrell of Waterbury, five grandchildren Kayla Giacin, Danielle Turcotte, Erin Peck, Jeffrey Earley and Ian Gelinas 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Judy LaPorta.
The funeral will be held Saturday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Rd. to St. Pius X Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be on Friday 6-8 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to the Make a Wish Foundation, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.
