

Dorothy S. “Dot” (Messier) Guay, 69, of Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Born on December 24, 1955, in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Philippe and Rita (Lambert) Messier.
Dot was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her two children, Denis Guay and his wife Sandy, and Diane Guay and her wife Ashley Upson, all of Southington. Dot also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Tia, Isabella, Gavin, Ryder Guay, and Benjamin Guay-McCarthy, along with Peyton and Bryce Upson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Denise Messier and Louise Francoeur.
Known for her generosity, Dot was always willing to help those in need, often giving the shirt off her back to her neighbors. She worked at Bussmanns Fuses, where she served as President of the Local Union. In this role, Dot was a tireless advocate for workers' rights, championing fair labor practices and fighting for better wages and working conditions.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Dot enjoyed camping and vacationing at her favorite destinations. In the 1980s, she showcased her musical talent as the lead singer of the "Second Time Around Band,". She also had a passion for horses, owning two horses and a pony.
Dot's warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be prior to the service, starting at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Rest in peace, Dot
